Innovative Thinking in IT

Training

Professional Development is important to all people. Increasing your knowledge and skills can lead to better solutions being developed and identifying improvements in the process you employ in everyday use of IT.

List below are some areas that training and familiarisation can be provided:

Linux

General concepts in Linux, including installation and daily use. Linux and supported applications can be used to carry out all normal computer tasks available from other systems such as Macintosh and Windows.

The level of technology and concepts in the training can be adjusted according to needs. This can range from basic home use (web browsing, e-mail and document/spreadsheet editing) to advanced server setups (DNS, DHCP, Web Server, Mail Services, Database hosting etc).

Apple Mac & iPod/iTunes

Apple systems are great to use. You can perform all IT related tasks using a Mac, including office documents, web browsing, e-mail and graphical design. The experience is superior in many ways to other systems, and easy to learn.

However, sometimes familiarity is better achieved by having someone help you through the initial shock of change. Conversely, you may be an old hat at using Macs, but feel there’s more to learn.

I can take you through some of the really cool things you can do with your Mac. And this includes even mundane things like creating and managing documents right up to creating your own Wiki and populating it with images from image services and videos from YouTube.

Wiki

Wiki systems are great for allowing collaborative document creation and management. Content is viewed through a web browser, and so is available to anyone on any system. Wikis are particular great for small teams that need maintain documentation for internal use, or for viewing by others in the same organisation, or wider afield. They can be used to document processes, procedures, events, layouts and catalogues.

I can show you how to set up a Wiki for internal and/or external use. Set up security to maintain the integrity of entries and manage the creation of pages and categories.
